The comics took a far darker tone than that of the tv show, in both design and storytelling. Funko's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pop! Vinyl Figures pays tribute to those original comics, featuring the turtles (as well as some friend and foes) in their original design, with a unique "cel shading" effect.
