Long before the golden arches of McDonalds appeared on every street corner, a young chef named Walter A. Anderson teamed up with insuramce salesman Edgar A. Ingram to launch what would become the world's first fast-food hamburgar franchise, the almighty White Castle.

Basing their brand around their iconic (and delicious) square burgers known as Sliders, White Castle would go on to become one of America's favourite take-outs, with Time Magazine even naming the White Castle Slider as the most influential hamburger of all time.
